I’m a happy Ubuntu Linux user from quite some time now. Nevertheless from time to time, when the planets align, I have to make a comeback to my other PC partition, a MS Windows Vista, to use software not fully functional in my Linux distribution. Usually this comebacks are related to the use of VMWare virtual machines. I always end up switching back to Ubuntu because things usually go wrong after a couple of days. Nevertheless this time things were different. This time I did a personal best as it only took me a couple of hours to start banging my head on the wall.

Whenever I had to release a version of my project I had to manually update the versions of my project and it’s libraries. Another manual task was the creation of the tag in our version control system (svn). In order to automate this process I decided to give the maven-release-plugin.

While configuring the Maven Release plugin I encountered some problems. This post describes the steps I took in the plugin configuration process as well as problems I encountered along the way.

I’m trying to integrate OpenID authentication with my web application using Spring Security. It isn’t being straightforward because I’m also in the process of learning the SpringFramework and Apache Tapestry. Depending on the dedication I’m able to put into his matter it will take a lesser or a longer time. I’ll post my evolution here on this blog.
